In polished stainless steel with a long, slim, rounded design, the 1500-watt Kenwood TTM333 has a retro look and feel with an embossed front plate.

This is a 2-slot toaster but can brown up to 4 slices of toast at a time as the chambers are deep, wide and long. To give you an idea of dimensions, the whole toaster measures 45cm x 16xm x 19.5cm and weighs 2.46kg, so is fairly light.

There are quite a number of features which make this £44.99 model good value for money. The functions are all simple to use and allow you to exercise a bit of choice over how your toast is cooked. Rather than pushing a lever down, you just pop your items into their slots and push the power button, which illuminates. The variable browning function has settings that range from pale to deep golden brown.

The ‘peek and view’ system is really handy and lets you check the colour of your toast at any point during the cycle by simply lifting the side-mounted lever. Defrost or reheat items at will, or cancel if you have to dash off somewhere. The removable crumb tray is designed to make cleaning easy, and cord storage keeps kitchen surfaces clear.
